Scholarship Aid Year: 2122
The scholarships listed below are designated for students who have been accepted into the nursing program at Missouri State University-West Plains. Nursing students also may want to review and apply for other scholarships listed in the "University Endowed Academic Scholarships" and "University Privately Funded Scholarship" sections. By applying online, your application will be matched with the selection criteria for endowed, privately funded and some institutional scholarships. Because many of these scholarships may require letters of reference and/or essays, review the criteria for each scholarship and submit any additional paperwork to the financial aid office. Scholarship criteria that include financial need require that the applicant file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1.
- Criteria:
- Awarded to a student enrolled in the nursing program at Missouri State University-West Plains with first priority consideration to a resident of Wright County. If no eligible applicants, consideration will then be given to applicants from Douglas, Howell, Oregon, Ozark, Shannon or Texas County. Student should have achieved a 3.0 GPA or higher during his or her school career and have demonstrated involvement in community service documented with two letters of reference. Award will be made without regard for financial need. Student must maintain a 3.0 GPA while receiving the scholarship.
- Renewal:
- Recipient may be considered for renewal but must reapply and have earned at least a 3.0 GPA or higher while receiving the scholarship.
- Application:
- Complete the online scholarship application and submit to the financial aid office two letters of recommendation from individuals who can reference the candidate’s community commitment and involvement.
Crissy Bell Memorial Endowed Scholarship
- Criteria:
- The recipient of this scholarship will be a student properly enrolled at Missouri State University-West Plains, who is a first year second semester nursing student. The recipient should have a 3.0 or higher GPA to receive the scholarship. Preference to a student with University and/or community involvement or working. First generation and/or single parent and/or non-traditional student. First consideration will be based on financial need.
Submit a short essay about Frances Reiter's contribution to the nursing profession.
Automatically renew for one year as long as the previous requirements are met with the exception of being a first year student. - Renewal:

Francis Reiter Memorial Nursing Endowed Scholarship
- Criteria:
- Must be a graduate of the South Central Area Vocational LPN School and enrolled in Missouri State Univ.-West Plains Nursing Program. Must have had a 3.0 GPA or higher in their LPN education. Demonstrate involvement in community service documented with two letters of reference. Do not consider financial need. To be able to renew, must reapply to be considered and continue to meet all criteria.

Frankie and S.D. Sims Memorial Scholarship
- Criteria:
- Recipient must be enrolled in the nursing program at Missouri State University-West Plains. Award is based on financial need and academic credentials of the applicants. Preference to applicants who require some financial assistance but may not qualify for a federal or state grant. Applicant must be from the seven-county service area (Douglas, Howell, Oregon, Ozark, Shannon, Texas or Wright Counties). Recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA during the payment of the scholarship.

Gammill Family Foundation Scholarship for Nursing School
- Criteria:
- Recipient must be a graduate of the South Central Area Vocational LPN School who is currently seeking an Associate of Science in Nursing degree at Missouri State University-West Plains. Special consideration will be given to applicants who have exhibited civic involvement and/or participated in events for individuals with special needs. Applicants from the Howell County area will be given first consideration, then applicants from Oregon, Shannon, Texas, Ozark, Wright or Douglas County. Applicants must have an overall GPA of at least 3.0 in their college program. Award will be made without regard to financial need.

Grace Putnam Good Citizen Nursing Scholarship
- Criteria:
- Recipient must be a graduate of the South Central Area Vocational LPN School who is currently seeking an Associate of Science in Nursing degree at Missouri State University-West Plains. Recipient must have maintained an overall GPA of at least 3.0 in his or her college program. Awards are made without regard to financial need.

J. E. 'Good' and Virginia 'Beanie' Hard Nursing Scholarship
- Criteria:
- Recipient must be a resident of Oregon County, accepted into the Missouri State University-West Plains nursing program and a full-time student. Other selection factors include financial need, high school academic performance, college potential as indicated by aptitude tests and leadership qualities.

- Recipient must reapply to be considered for renewal.
May Wheeler Memorial Scholarship
- Criteria:
- Awarded to a student enrolled in the nursing program at Missouri State University-West Plains. Applicant must be a resident of Howell or Oregon County and must have graduated from a public high school. Recipient must have a 3.0 or higher GPA in all previous educational programs. Award will be made with regard to financial need with preference being given to an individual who requires some financial assistance but may not qualify for a federal or state grant. Application must include the names of two references who know the student well.

Ralph F. and Louella Cox Endowed Scholarship
- Criteria:
- Recipient must be enrolled in the Missouri State University-West Plains nursing program and be from Texas, Oregon or Howell County. When awarded to an incoming freshman, consideration will be given to financial need, high school performance and college potential as indicated by aptitude tests. Award will be made with regard to financial need and may be used for course fees, books and supplies. Must be enrolled in at least 12 hours each semester.

South Central Ozark Home Health Endowed Scholarship
- Criteria:
- Must be enrolled in Missouri State Univ.-West Plains Nursing Program. Recipient must be full time. They must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Demonstrate involvement in community service documented with two letters of reference. Do not consider Financial Need. To be able to renew the recipient must reapply to be considered and continue to meet all criteria.

Susan Sims-Giddens and Edwin Giddens
- Criteria:
- The recipient of this scholarship will be a student properly enrolled at Missouri State University-West Plains, who is a first year, second semester nursing student. The recipient should have a 2.0 or higher GPA to receive the scholarship. Preference to a student with University and/or community involvement or is working. First consideration will be based on financial need.
- Renewal:
- The scholarship will automatically renew for one year as long as all the previous requirements are met with the exception of being a first year student.
- Application:
- Complete the online scholarship application and submit to the financial aid office a short essay about Virginia Henderson’s theory of nursing care.
Virginia Henderson Nursing Endowed Scholarship
- Criteria:
- Awarded to a student enrolled in the nursing program at Missouri State University-West Plains who is a graduate of West Plains High School. Recipient must be at the sophomore level with preference to a student enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester. Award will be made without regard to financial need.
